Rosenrot is the fifth studio album by German industrial metal band Rammstein, released on November 28, 2005. Its title translates to “rose-red” in English, reflecting themes of passion, desire, and dark storytelling. Following the international success of Reise, Reise (2004), Rosenrot continues the band’s signature industrial metal sound while incorporating melodic and orchestral elements.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the German Albums Chart and was certified multi-platinum in several countries, further solidifying Rammstein’s global influence in the industrial metal genre.
Background and Recording
After touring extensively for Reise, Reise, Rammstein returned to the studio in 2005 to create Rosenrot. The album features a mixture of new material and songs that were originally written during the Reise, Reise sessions but did not make it onto that album.
The band worked again with producer Jacob Hellner, focusing on combining heavy riffs, electronic textures, and dramatic melodic elements. Recording took place in Studio Miraval in France and Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin.
