Just Push Play is the 13th studio album by Aerosmith, released on March 5, 2001, and co-produced by Marti Frederiksen and Mark Hudson. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum within a month.
The lead single, "Jaded", became a Top 10 hit in the US and worldwide. Although the other singles had some airplay, they did not make the Hot 100. The album cover, designed by Hajime Sorayama, features a Marilyn Monroe-inspired gynoid that had been used previously for a compilation album in 1985.
Several songs were recorded but not included on the album. Guitarist Joe Perry later criticized the album, saying that it didn’t feel like a true Aerosmith record because the band members weren’t together during recording.
Critically, the album received mixed reviews, earning a 65/100 on Metacritic. Some reviewers considered it their best-sounding album since the late '80s, while others felt it lacked memorable songs. "Jaded" stood out as a highlight, and the album experimented with rap metal elements.
Just Push Play was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2001, including Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group ("Jaded"), and Best Short Form Music Video ("Fly Away from Here").
