Introduction
In 1997, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore shocked the rock world. After decades of shaping hard rock with bands like Deep Purple and Rainbow, he abandoned electric riffs in favor of Renaissance melodies, acoustic guitars, and medieval atmospheres. The result was Shadow of the Moon, the debut album of Blackmore’s Night with vocalist and lyricist Candice Night.
In 2023, the album returned as the Shadow of the Moon – 25th Anniversary Edition, celebrating the record that launched one of the most unique projects in rock history.
A Fresh Remaster After 25 Years
For the anniversary release, the original recordings were transferred to high-definition audio and newly remixed, giving greater clarity to the album’s acoustic instruments and layered arrangements.
Fans can now hear details that were less pronounced in the original 1997 mix—especially the lutes, flutes, tambourines, and acoustic guitar textures that define the band’s signature sound.
The updated edition also features new artwork inspired by the original cover, along with expanded liner notes and archival photos from the early years of Blackmore’s Night.
